    cgalpha08's build!!

    Alright, here goes, my build

She is a birch white 2008 H3 alpha.
She comes from a repo car auction out of Georgia.

First pic, before it was even licensed.

At the time i didnt know places like CHO existed, so i really had no idea what my possibilities were for building her up.

My friends thought they were funny saran wrapping her with industrial wrap (angry face!)

Any way, here is some first mud after those nerfs came off.

Then came the real wheels double tier brushguard....before the prices sky rocketed!

After that i caught the mod bug, i kinda did things in a strange order, i was unaware that sliders and protection were better first purchases than little cosmetic things...but i have since learned!

Oh yea...i picked up the cross rails at Lynch Hummers when it still existed, impressive place!

    Re: cgalpha08's build!!

Ok so after those mods came some lights.
4 KC pencil beams on the roof, mounted on the real wheels roof light bar, and 2 driving lights on the brushguard

Im mounted the switches on the knee bolster, currently looking for a better solution

After that came the roof mounted bike racks, those have since been removed..keep reading to find out why ;)
Also bought a Gobi ladder for easier access

Then came a Midland cb 75-822, with some dual solarcan antennas, since then i have upgraded to a firestick and docs spare tire antenna mount.

    Re: cgalpha08's build!!

Before this next mod, i purchased the GM UCP, no pics of the install, i am sure many of you have seen them already

Next mod was a GOBI ranger rack w/sunroof insert and spare tire mount, which reminds me, i got some new cooper AT-3 tires and put the best tire from the old set on the roof.
    Any way...back to the GOBI

Install is easy as pie, and it is very well built.
    Mid install....

Sometime after the install, my rig turned 30...

    just ignore the speed!

    Re: cgalpha08's build!!

Up next is my body matched grill, i picked this up on craigslist from a lady who put a chrome grill on her H3

Next came the hunner skids!! these bad boys are pretty damn beefy!!

    install process

Not gunna lie, its a weird feeling unbolting the ubolts.

    installed...

I love watching build ups. They always give you ideas. Are you running two spares? One on the back door and one on the roof? If not, what did you do with the back door mount?

I am running two spares, if it was just one, the gobi package comes with a spare tire delete that mounts where the oem spare tire mounts.

    Re: cgalpha08's build!!

I forgot to mention what my future plans for the H3 are. Im leaning more towards the expedition type vehicle, but still suitable for Hummer events. I plan on taking a round trip tour of the US and parts of Canada one of these years, so i want to be completely prepared for as many situations as possible. This list is obviously not in any particular order, some mods are wayy more important than others, but just as a look into the future, here ya go.

    -Rear differential skid
-OEM lights switches or some new mounting location
    -Superchips tune
    -Blistien or fox shocks
    -hi-lift extreme
    -axe/shovel mount
    -hi lift mount w/ORK
    -Dual batterys
    -Gobi storage box system
    -Gobi tie down system
    -second gas tank
    -onboard water system
-cbphoto winch mount or DOI mount
-warn powerplant 12k lbs or vr12000
    -Hutchinson beadlock wheels
    -upgraded amp
    -rear drawer/ storage system
    -ARB fridge
    -Rancho lift (undecided)

    Update...

Still waiting on my sliders, but i did what is probably one of my most favorite mods today.
I plasti-diped my emblems black. This stuff is cheap, and it amazing!! Plus if you don't like it, it will literally come off and whats underneath will look the same as before!
    Anyway, onto the pics....

Since i am still waiting for my sliders and brackets (snail mail) i will show you my latest touch up bit

The H3 is notorious for having those windshield trim pieces fade like a mother! So i plasti diped them, and they came out really well, only problem is that the rest of the trim is not matching.

Those trim pieces are easy to get off. Even with the Gobi rack. I just did my in bed liner. Just undo the Gobi bolts and then use a torx bit to remove the 3 or 4 screws that hold it down to the roof. Then side it out. Do one side at a time and you will have it done in no time.

So this weekend i took a trip down to the local 4 wheel parts store to pick up one of these bad boys.

In a side note. Rocky road sliders came in today. Something must have gone wrong during the shipping process because i am missing 10 or so nuts washers, lock nuts, and 8 bolts. Oh and to add to the pain, the nuts that came are the wrong ones for the bolts!! Ahh!!
Looks like a home-depot trip is in my future.

Where you going to mount the high lift jack? On the roof rack? Seems like no matter where we mount them on the H3, they always look like the after thought that they are... oh yea, what size did you go with? 48 or 60?

Yea ill probably just mount it to the rack with the Gobi attachments.

I bought the 60 inch extreme lift and the winching kit for it. They say bigger is better right? ;)

Also, Gobi sent the wrong brackets for the ARB awning so i am going to have to deal with with that before i mount the awning up. :(

Update, Gobi doesn't manufacture. Ranger awning mounts, they only make stealth ones, so they are fabbing me up some custom ones. Also looks like im going to be tapping the threads for thw rocky roads because they are all rusted and crap. >:(

I can get some in the am. They are actually zip-tied to a rubber clamp on the BG because i am waiting on some heavier duty clamps.

Looks really good. Do they whistle or hum when driving at speed?

Well after a day of pain and frustration, i have finally managed to get my rocky road sliders on.

I had to tap each one of the threads to clean them out so the bolts would go in. The tap worked perfectly. I also used anti seize on each bolt to ensure they would come out later.

I did the install by myself, very easy to do. The brake lines are a pain in the ass!!

I love that color matched grill.....

    very nice rig.....

My suggestion would to plasti-dip the cowls.....

it's not permanent.... that's the best part..... you can love it for a year, and then hate it and make it back to normal..
