Might help if you indicate what model you are trying to install a camera in, H1, H2 or H3

"It was a good idea, right up until it wasn't."
I bought a Peak brand from Manards at 100. bucks it worked for 2 mounts and then the camara went out from water at the car wash, dont wast your money on a cheep one.

I tend to buy the cheap $10-20 ones so if they stop working, it's no big deal to buy a new one.

I added a rear view camera, when I installed a new Pioneer AVIC navigation radio.
I started with a night vision camera powered from the rev lights.
And, I used the rev light to signal the radio to automaticly switch its display to rear camera.
But, even with a night vision camera it didn't work very well in the dark...
So, I ended up adding some pretty bright (Rigid Industries) auxillary reverse lights.
The radio is still set up to auto switch to rear view, when I go into reverse.
But, I ended up powering the camera from an ignition switched circuit (to avoid the short delay as the camera powers on).
I do not remember the brand of camera, I can try to look it up.
But, I think the extra back up lights made the biggest difference.
thanx for all the replies guys, I have a 2007 H3, I also got a cheap one probably will install it this weekend I will let you guys know how it goes.
Try and seal the camera to keep out the water. Good luck.
I have had three different back camera on my H3 over the years and costs have varied from $20-$100. I have had the best luck with this one off amazon that provides the clearest picture, best night vision and a wide range camera for use when backing up in tight positions. I have this one mounted upside down on the factory hitch which center the camera to the truck. If something happens to this one off-road I plan to purchase another for $20.

For what it's worth I bought the OEM Camera and had it wired to the Sony CarPlay unit on my 09 H3
I have done an install of the rearview mirror & camera with factory parts from
a donor H3T to a non camera option H3T.
First off you will need the rearview mirror with camera display and the video control module thats located just behind the dash trim on RH side of steering wheel & you will also need a bumper with the factor camera hole already cut out. . . Or you will need to cut a small hole & file to shape & size of the factory camera " dont forget to touch up the paint" also you will need the factory pigtail for the camera that plugs into the DS rear wiring harness just behind the license plate . Everthing is a simple plug & play setup addition to the factory installed wire harness on the H3 & H3T also the parts are the same on both im not sure on the H2's & H1's dont have the optional wires & plug ends on the factory harness to add on so it will be a complete install front to back you might want to go with a wireless after market setup
